Jodie and I are at 3208 5th St. North, in Arlington, near the intersection of 5th N and Ivy St.
We're an easy 15 minute walk from each of two Metro stations. Our intersection is on the maps at the Metro stations. Directions from the Metro are below, but don't follow them too slavishly. Once you're in the residential neighborhood, it's pretty easy to navigate, and there are a variety of equally good ways to get to our house. The streets are a semi-regular grid, with the named streets being in alphabetical order. It's pretty hard to make a wrong turn.
For those driving, I recommend a good navigator. There should be plenty of street parking. Also, we're not going anywhere, so feel free to fill up the driveway. We paid lots of money for it and we'd hate to see it go to waste.
As you get off the escalator, continue walking the same direction (south on Monroe).
Cross Wilson Blvd. and continue on Monroe.
Monroe will jog a bit to the right, but keep going.
LEFT on 5th St.
Continue on 5th until you pass Ivy.
Look for our house on the right side: 3208 5th St.
After you get off the escalator, turn right (south on Highland).
Continue on Highland and across a couple of busy streets (the second is 10th St).
Watch for a house on the left with concrete lions dressed in a seasonally appropriate manner
RIGHT onto 6th St. after the lion house.
Follow 7th to its end.
LEFT onto Irving.
RIGHT onto 5th St. North
We're the second house on the left: 3208 5th St.
From I-66, take the exit marked Glebe Road/Fairfax Drive.
Proceed straight ahead, on Fairfax Drive, for about a mile.
As Fairfax Dr. curves sharply to the right, get in the RIGHT lane.
Cross Wilson (at the Hess Station)
RIGHT onto Ivy after the Goodyear store, but before the Avis sign.
Follow Ivy to its end and look for our house on the left, at the intersection with 5th Street North.
Ivy doesn't look like much, and it's easy to miss the street sign. The Goodyear and Avis signs should work for you, but don't panic if you miss Ivy. Just take the next right (Irving) and take it down to 5th St. Turn right onto 5th, and we'll be the second house on the left.
Take the Beltway/I-495 across the American Legion (Cabin John for you old folks) bridge.
On the American Legion bridge, get in the right lane and take the exit for the GW Parkway.
Proceed southbound on the GW Parkway for quite a ways.
As you pass under the Key Bridge, move toward the right.
EXIT onto Route 50 West (marked for Rosslyn, I think).
Proceed on Rt. 50 West for several miles.
RIGHT at the first light, onto Pershing.
Bear LEFT as you cross Washington Blvd, to stay on Pershing (the two gas stations should be on your right).
RIGHT at the second light onto Jackson.
RIGHT onto 5th St. North
We're the first house on the right after Ivy: 3208 5th St.
Take I-395 North.
Pass the Glebe Road exits.
EXIT onto Route 27 (Washington Blvd), the first exit after Glebe.
Bear LEFT after the exit.
Proceed on Washington Blvd for a ways.
Hard LEFT onto Pershing, at the second light.
RIGHT onto Jackson, at the second light.
RIGHT onto 5th Street North.
We're the first house on the right after Ivy: 3208 5th St.
