Sat, Dec. 19 CHGA Christmas Party
|
There will be no general meeting this December.
Instead, we'll have a whole lot of fun at the
annual CHGA Christmas Party, once again hosted
by John and JoAnn Dullahan:
1213 Firth of Lorne Circle Directions: Take Indian Head Highway (Route 210, exit 2A) south from the beltway 495/95 (it's the first exit in Maryland driving east from the Wilson Bridge, and the last exit before 295 north if driving west toward Virginia from Maryland. Bear right on the first off-ramp if coming from Virginia, and, if coming south on 295 from the District, bear to the left.). Go about five miles south. After passing Ft. Washington Rd., take a right at the next light at Swan Creek Rd (there's a small shopping center on the right). Proceed to a traffic circle; go straight across. Continue to a stop sign at Riverview Road, where you'll make a left. Go about 75 meters and take next left into Firth of Lorne Circle. It's the 4th house on left (white with blue shutters).

Bob Ryan ever could after listening to these two!
The seminar starts around 7:00, and the general meeting follows.
|

|
Joe Gregor is a machine! Another seminar, this
time covering Speeds To Fly theory. Still no calculus
required, *phew*.

Is Joe a frustrated teacher or what???

Wed, July 22 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar
|
The Hang-Gliding-For-Dummies series continues! Joe Gregor
continues his pre-meeting seminar blitz with a discussion
of HG Aerodynamics. No calculus required, honest :) But you'll
have to show up a bit early, 7:00, in order to find out
how your kite flies. The general meeting follows at 8:00.
On a less lofty level, note that we have to decide on what to do in lieu of our August meeting. Some of the ideas we've heard include: roller-blading, ultimate frisbee, a party, caving, and a work-party at one of our sites. Start thinking about what you'd like to do and be prepared to decide at the general meeting!
|
Wed, June 24 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar |
Joe Gregor continues his seminar-blitz this month with a
discussion of Aerotowing Skills. Those guaranteed tows to
2000' really start to sound appealing with the summer heat
and humidity approaching...
|
Wed, May 27 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar |
The spring flying season is finally really here, and we expect
to hear lots of flying stories from our local pilots. In addition,
Joe Gregor will present a Thermalling Skills seminar at 7:00,
before the general meeting. Just what you need to know to knock
our local skygod(desses) off the top of the stack!
|
Wed, April 22 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar |
Well, I hate to admit it, but I've lost track of what we did
for the April '98 meeting; I was a little distracted at the time :-(
So if you know the details, pass them along and I'll add them here, thanks!
|
Wed, Mar. 25 CHGA General Meeting |
This month's
CHGA meeting
features a presentation by Joe Gregor on the topic of crowded
approaches to an LZ. Joe's talk starts at 7:00, so remember
to arrive early! All the usual biz, flying stories, and fun
follows at the normal time, 8:00.
|
Wed, Feb. 25 CHGA General Meeting and Awards Ceremony |
The highlight of this month's
CHGA meeting
is our annual Awards Ceremony. We'll be presenting awards
to many members who achieved flight milestones during 1997,
and recognizing those who helped our club out in special ways.
A great meeting to reflect on the past year, and hear stories
about those special first-flights!
Note! Joe Gregor's approaches-and-landings seminar this evening has been cancelled; it will be re-scheduled for a future meeting.
|
Thursday, Feb. 5 MHGA General Meeting |
The February 5, 1998, MHGA meeting is also its traditional Election &
Awards night. There are numerous plaques and certificates to be presented
to pilots in honor of their 1997 accomplishments and contributions. There
were many goals reached by pilots and we aspire to recognize the successes
of all our members. Plan to attend the Elections & Awards Ceremony,
beginning 7:30 p.m., to applaud your fellow pilots.
To attend: from the Baltimore Beltway take 83 North. Go 5 miles to Exit 20-B, Shawan Road West, to the first light. Turn left onto Beaverdam Road and stay left at the immediate fork. This doubles back toward 83. Go 1/4 mile to the park entrance on the right. The meeting is held in the Lodge at the top left corner of the parking lot.
|
Wed, Jan. 28 CHGA General Meeting |
Getting airtime can be tough in the winter, so why not attend
this month's CHGA meeting?
At least you'll be able to talk about flying!
Usual place: Lasick's in College Park, at 8:00pm.
The evening's topics will include a discussion of methods by which
the risk of Hook-In Failures can be further reduced, nominations
for our annual awards ceremony, and first-aid training.
