Fri, Dec. 17 CHGA Christmas Party
|
There will be no general meeting this December.
Instead, we'll have a whole lot of fun at the
annual CHGA Christmas Party! This year's hostess
is Marney Bruce:
4541 Windsor Lane Directions: From Connecticut Avenue and Jones Bridge Road: go west on Jones Bridge Road (towards Wisconsin Avenue). Take second left turn after the traffic light at USUHS (Lynbrook Drive). Go three blocks and take a right on Windsor Lane. The house is two thirds of the way down on your right. Park on my side of the street or in my driveway. From Wisconsin Avenue and Jones Bridge Road: go east on Jones Bridge Road (towards Connecticut Avenue). Take your third right (Maryland Avenue),which is immediately after the traffic light at the entrance to the Naval Hospital. Go two blocks and take a left on Windsor Lane. My house is four houses up on the left. Be sure to park on my side of the street or in my driveway. And here's a map.

Wed, Jul 28 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar
|
The Gregor Seminar Blitz continues! Joe's topic this month is Traffic Avoidance. No, this isn't an intro to driving techniques for the Beltway, we're talking planes, cargo jets, and Warthogs. Powered air traffic is a concern at several of our sites, so come on out and hear what Joe's got to say! |
The Seventh Annual McConnellsburg Hang Gliding Festival 3rd or 4th Weekend September, 1999 |
The CHGA and MHGA will be holding their annual Fly-In and Just-For-Fun Competition in September. Details about the event can be found at the HGFest'99 website. We'll have trophies for best team and individual finishers, a raffle with great prizes, and a kick-butt party on Saturday night! Ya gotta be there! |
Sat/Sun, June 19th and 20th The High Rock Partay! |
This year's High Rock Party and Fly-In will be in mid-June,
and with luck the new pavilion in the LZ will be completed
in time for the event! Flying, a barbecue, camping, music,
and a keg-o-beer are all part of the festivities; check
the Fly-In webpage for further details.

Wed, May 26 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar
|
For May Joe Gregor once again volunteers to give a seminar, this time on how your Vario (and perhaps GPS) works, with an eye to learning what to look for in a new instrument, and to make better use of the one you got to sky out, go places, and stay safe. A great topic for this time of year! |
Wed, Apr 28 CHGA General Meeting and Seminar
|
Does Joe secretly want to be a professor?
How else to explain his continual willingness to hold
these seminars? Maybe he likes calling on people
from the front of a room? In any case...
April's seminar will be on launch and landing principles. The discussion will cover the principles that make our gliders do what they do during launch, approach, and landing (or crashing), and what we can do with this knowledge to increase our safety margin during these critical phases of flight. |
